Amber Yates is a partner at SGA and has been in accounting for over 20 years. Prior to moving to Bend in 2006, Amber was the managing partner of a CPA firm in La Grande, Oregon. Amber has been licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Oregon since 1995, having graduated with high honors from Eastern Oregon University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and an emphasis in accounting.
Amber has significant experience in tax, accounting and financial consulting for closely held businesses. She consults business owners and their families in business succession and estate planning matters. As a part of this work, she assists professionals and business owners in developing strategies to finance and capitalize their companies and develop purchase or sale strategies. She has also been called to provide expert testimony in areas of business accounting.
In addition to her work in public accounting, Amber has worked within businesses both as an accountant and as a financial officer. This experience provides her a deeper understanding of closely-held businesses and their needs.
Amber is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Oregon Society of Certified Public Accountants. She has served numerous community and professional organizations including the EDCO—Economic Development of Central Oregon (Board Member), St. Charles Foundation Board, Central Oregon Estate Planning Counsel, Central Oregon Chapter of Women for Winesense, Family Access Network, Oregon Society of CPAs Education Foundation, Union County Oregon CASA (Board Chair), P.E.O., Opportunity Knocks team facilitator, and the Union County Ambassadors.
